MB Farms North American Babydoll Southdowns
Welcome to MB Farms Babydoll Southdown Sheep.  We have been breeding Babydoll's for two years.  This is our second lambing. We are very small breeders.  My concentration is health first, then conformation, then color. One reason I have kept my herd small is so I can get a good grasp on health issues and care.

Why Babydoll's?  I chose Babydoll's honestly because they were the cutest sheep I had ever seen.  However, since I have owned the breed, I would never own another breed.  They are easy to care for, requiring only good quality alfalfa or good pasture grass, fresh water, loose salt, and mineral. I shear them once a year myself and trim hooves as needed.  They tame down very easily.  I can easily take my ewes across the yard and put them in a temporary pen to graze with a bucket of grain.  They are small in size so they make good sheep for smaller children interested in showing in 4-H.  They are also excellent grazers for those that have a small acreage and need a gas free lawn mower.

If you are interested in a good wool producer, the Babydoll has very dense wool and if taken care of properly can be spun and used for knitting or whatever.  Babydoll's are also excellent meat producers.  So while they are small, they are a very versatile animal.
